Dan was born in San Francisco and his family moved to San Jose when he was a child. He started playing in school music programs in primary school and began on bass at age 13. He played in many bands around the Bay Area and travelled throughout the Mid West and Texas in the late 70’s playing in clubs.

In the 1990’s as a member of the California All Stars, under the direction of blues artist Will Porter, he supported many artists including Mary Wells, Chuck Berry, Bo Didley, David Frizzell, Freda Payne, Billy Preston and The Shirelles.

In 1984 Dan married his wife Kelly. They have two children, Kyra and Sean. They relocated to Salt Lake City in 2001 where Dan was a member of the music ministry at The Adventure foursquare church. During his time there he was active in the local blues community and did a lot of studio recording, primarily at Kelly Brown Studios located in West Valley, Utah.

Dan and Kelly moved to Sonora in 2015.
